11/7/2016 0 Comments Series of RecommendationsFor a society to function and be healthy, there should be certain rules and regulations that should be applied to a community.
The first recommendations are for the rules and regulations for affairs such as sanitation, garbage collection, and sewage systems. Garbage should be left outside doors in bins at the end of every week (Saturday), to be picked up by garbage-men. Monthly taxes can include a fee for this service, and it can be disposed of in a hygienic way. Another suggestion is a new underground sewage system. This would include an outhouse, where the waste would go underground through pipes, into the sewage system. Sanitation rules can include at least 4 showers a week, if not more, and brushing your teeth and performing other hygienic things are mandatory. The following suggestions are for medicals matters, such as construction of hospitals, clinics, and training for treatment and more medical knowledge. We think that there should definitely be one, big, main hospital and then a few smaller clinics, for regular check ups and occasional appointments. There should also, definitely, be more training for treatment and medical knowledge. This can be accomplished by either opening medical schools and/or letting people observe and learn with doctors, apprenticeships. Of course, people would have to pay for these opportunities. Now, let's talk about attitude. The attitude of the working class towards the ruling, and vice versa. We feel that the ruling class definitely needs to show the working class respect and gratitude because it would make them actually want to come to work, happier, and feel appreciated. The ruling class must also pay workers minimum wage (which here in British Columbia is $10.85), if not more. The attitude of the working class towards the ruling class should have the same factors. The working class should, in return, show respect and gratitude towards the ruling class because that is how they manage to feed their families and live their lives. They should not be afraid of the ruling class, or be working in fear. We think that the population in rural areas shouldn't be over than 4 people per family, because we understand that if you have a larger family you have more mouths to feed, and need more space to live in. Since you live in a rural area, you probably barely make enough money to feed one mouth, forget even trying to feed more than 4. If there were a massive migration, the monarch has to accommodate as many families as he can, and try his best to find living areas for the rest, if not have to turn them down. In our opinion, the most important rules and regulations are the ones surrounding labor supply. When there are less people to do work people want done, wages should definitely be increased. Then, not only would people realize that they would be making more money, they would also go do the work. The workers get more money, live better lives, and the employers, or ruling class, get their work done. Considering the ruling class would lose a little more money because of the increased wages, it's still a win-win situation. Land usage and food supply! How are you going to get work done if people aren't strong enough because of lack of food. We think that at least 40% of the land in their community should belong to the government, or monarch, to produce enough food for the population. With more than enough land, there would not only be an increase in the supply of food, there would also be land to accommodate the population. Meaning everyone would have the necessary amount of food, and a home to live in. Now, FOOD! We believe that food prices should drop because first, there isn't a huge demand, so if it is cheaper, more people would purchase it. Also, people need to be able to feed themselves and their families, so it should be at a price that everyone is capable to afford. Well, what happens to the prices of goods if there is less demand, and less people to create the goods? We think that it should decrease because there isn't a huge amount of people to make the goods, but those people should also make a profit. They should get at least 10% of every item that is sold, because they put their hard work and effort into it. By: Maneeta, Avreen, and Noor

11/3/2016 0 Comments The Spread of the Black DeathFor the interactive map on how the Black Plague spread throughout Europe it showed in which order towns and cities were infected, and the trade routes from around there because the Black Plague was transferred from a different place and brought to a foreign land through traders. The plague would have more likely entered Europe from the Genoese trade route because in the map, the Genoese trade route comes from somewhere out of the right of the map, while the Venetian route is right there from Europe. The Genoese route also goes farther out from London than the Venetian, so the plague was able to reach to Hamburg. I think that the plague traveled more along the shipping routes than on land because people couldn't walk over water, reach their destination, and spread the infection. For example for the infection to spread all the way to London someone infected obviously had to be there which would make it spread more, and since it was first seen in Messina, no one form London could have just spread it. Infected traders had to take a vessel there in order for the plague to continue to spread. For the plague to spread to people in Paris, I think that it would've made its way across Europe on land because people went to Paris to do a lot of trading. There were marketplaces were people went to go trade their goods. So I think people from towns and cities would've walked with their goods to bigger, more populated cities like Paris where it would spread more. I feel that the reason it took so long for the plague to get to London, when it was in Paris a year earlier, might've been the weather. Since you had to travel to London by vessel people may have not went over the sea or used boats in the winter, because of safety. When the ice began to melt later on, and it got warmer people went overseas. People wouldn't have had as much to trade because things can't grow in the wrong weather, so people wouldn't go trade and that's how it wouldn't spread for a while. Hamburg was probably a place where people started to figure things out because in the map, the routes don't go out as far to Hamburg. Traders went overland to go trade their goods in Hamburg even though they didn't do it by ship. I believe that it was possible for the plague to travel directly from Genoa to Hamburg passing Paris because since there was an overland trading route going from Genoa to Hamburg, the plague could've made its way through a trader from Genoa to Hamburg and continue to spread and contaminate people.
![]() For church the five words I chose are beliefs, strong, commanding, cunning and superior. I used the word beliefs because I think that they would make beliefs to scare people to give more to them, this is why I used the word cunning as well. They would be dishonest and they would threaten to get more wealthy. I used the words strong and commanding because they would give orders to get what they want. If someone tried to stand up to them they would be strong as in have an army either kill or harm the person. Making the church cunning, strong and commanding is how they would get people to donate more because they would threaten them. I used the word superior because the church has a really high ranking compared to the peasants and knights, they earned this ranking from wealth which they got from threatening and they earned a high ranking from giving orders which would make people be afraid of them. For the king the five words I chose are powerful, wealthy, leadership, joyful, and educated. I chose powerful because they would have the most control over the peasants nobles and knights They can use their power to get what they want. That's a reason why I used joyful. As long as they have everything they like there going to be joyful. Imagine this, if everything you asked for you would get because you have the most power, you are going to be happy. They could use their power in a bad way or a good way, They could use it to create violence for what they want or to give as in be generous and "donate". Most kings and queens have a really good education, that's why I would say they are educated. They have gone to school from there young ages till probably they are an adult. Most kings get well educated because of there parents wealth. This is why I used wealth. With wealth they can buy things that they like or they can use it for power. Most of this wealth comes from there parents so I could use "heirs" or "ancestors" . I chose the word leadership because most kings would lead there society. They would take the decisions for good or sometimes bad, and they would choose who gets what and who doesn't. For the nobles I chose the words greedy, unhelpful, ungrateful, unsatisfied, anxious. I chose the word greedy because nobles would always want what would make them more wealthy, or anything that would come to good use for them. They wouldn't think about others but would think about what they get first. If someone was in need of the thing they wouldn't help but would think about them selves first. This is why I used the word unhelpful. Most nobles would think that helping others would take away from them, that is why they wouldn't take risks of helping others because they dont want any loss for themselves. I used the words anxious and unsatisfied because nobles would want the thing as fast as it could get to them. This was probably because of worrying of having loss if the thing that they want took to long to reach them, the word unsatisfied comes in because even though they would get the thing as fast as possible and exactly how they want it, they would never be satisfied with it as in not happy with what they have. I used the word ungrateful because nobles would always think of themselves before anyone else and if someone else needed the thing they wouldn't be grateful and give it to them. For the knights I chose the words protective, grateful, satisfied, brutal and middle-class. The knights are really protective because they would risk there lives to save someone else's lives. They would protect someone from the time they become a knight till when they end being a knight. This is why I used the word grateful, knights are just putting their lives at risk to save someone else's, that's almost like giving their life for someone else to keep theirs. In my opinion I think that's being grateful. I used satisfied and middle-class because they aren't at the highest level like the kings and church and nobles but they would be satisfied like "happy" with what level their living at. I put the word happy in quotations because they wouldn't really want exactly where their level is at but there "happy" because they aren't peasants. I would say they are brutal because they would fight till there life is at risk, they may be violent but their fighting for what would be good for the nobles or the king. For the peasants I chose the words unhealthy, uneducated, hard-workers, penniless, and afraid. I used the word unhealthy because they dont have a very good health care system. They wouldn't be treated to get better like the kings or nobles would. It could be because no one really respects them because they aren't living on a high-class level like the kings or nobles or it could be because they aren't really wealthy. This is why I used the word penniless because they dont have much money to buy that food and all the things kings or nobles own. Peasants dont have the money to have their own army or there own houses and lots of food for everyone, they would get most of their food from the nobles. I used the word uneducated because peasants didn't go to school like the kings. They didn't have their parents wealth that could get them education. I used the words hard-workers and afraid because all peasants work their hardest to have the best for the nobles kings and church but they wouldn't put them selves first. They work in fear which makes them afraid. They dont want to make any mistakes because just one mistake could get them killed or harmed. The example I used is the vending machine. This is because the things that are worth more would be sold more. This is like the kings and church having more wealth so they get more respect and people are under their control, where the peasants dont have any respect and dont get people following their orders. The things worth more that get sold alot I would put as the kings and the church, the things that are sold sometimes I would put as nobles, the things that are barley sold i would put as knights and things that are never sold I would put as the peasants. I think being Secular is when your non spiritual like when your not religious. A secular person would relate to the physical world more then the spiritual world, and they wouldn't believe in all the rules of religion, or all the stereotypes. Most people are secular because they think that spiritual world and religion are all made up things, and they would relate more to physical science.
Religion should be in politics because if politicians start following religion maybe other people will to. For example most people take steps inspired by politicians because they think every decision made by a politician is right, so if politicians decide to show respect to religions and cultures maybe people that follow steps of politicians may follow religions and show more respect to them too. Another reason why I think religion should be in politics is because people will understand that they shouldn't be laws against religions, because most politics think there shouldn't be either. Most people say that gay marriage should be illegal too but others say it shouldn't I think Religion shouldn't be in politics because some politicians may use it to get power in an unfair or inappropriate way. For example if a politician s a certain religion and lots of people that are the same religion follow this politicians decisions the politician may give more rights to the people of his own religion, and people. This is where riots would start and protests because people would go against the politician that is putting there religion further and giving them more rights then other religion. Most politicians will use this to get them more votes because they would tell certain religions with the bigger populations that they will give them more right then other religions that have smaller populations. I think they would give more right to the bigger populated religions because they would get more chances of votes rather then having just a small amount of people against the person. My Case: I think Religion should and shouldn't be in politics because it should only be used when necessary, because most politicians will use religion to get respect to it but others may use it to get more power. For example if there is religion in politics people will follow politicians steps and show more respect and want to learn more about the religion, but if religion is used for discrimination and racism some politicians may get more power by doing that. Most politicians will start violence by doing that because there would be protests and lots or riots if certain religions dont have the same rights as other religions. I related this to my world-view, and this is because in my Political world view I had said that most people dont get to vote, this relates because there are people that may not be not able to vote because of their religion. That's how the certain Politician would get power. In conclusion I think that there should be religion in politics but it should be used in a right, fair and equal way. Sources: Most parents may think that the more children learn about religion the more they'll learn to respect their own religion and other religions. People may even say that teaching religion to kids will teach them more about the history, because every religion has a history to it of how it started and why it started. Kids will learn rules that you follow for that religion too and why they are followed. All students should know information on there families history and most of it would come from learning about a religion.
Some other parents think that teachers focus too much on one religion besides teaching a child about all of the religions. This may happen because of the opinion the teacher has based on the religion or it may be because of the religion the teacher is her/him self. Lots of parents argue to keep religion out of schools for this reason, while other parents may say that they dont want their child learning about a certain religion. If each parent says that they don't want their child learning about a specific religion and it should not be taught, each religion may be taken out from being taught because I'm guessing every religion has at least one person willing against it being taught. In my opinion I think that religion should be taught in schools. Most teachers and Students cant names the five main religions in the world. Most students dont know much about their religion or any religion around the world. I think students should learn more because then they would have more knowledge on the religion and grow respect to it. To make if fair in schools I dont think teacher should teach based on their opinion or their religion. Each religion should be taught equally and respectfully. Going to the first day of school and seeing all my friends again! :) I think patients feel lost while being treated at the hospital because they are normally wondering why they are stuck at the spot. Most patients will think that they haven't done anything where they should deserve to be stuck in the spot, while most people will think about what they have gone against that god is putting them in a spot like this. Patients that are really religious will follow rules by there culture and if they do get put in a spot like this, they will wonder why. I feel that some doctors are lacking in spiritual care because they think that a person may only be cured or recover by medical care, and they dont believe in spiritual care at all. There fore I think doctors should have some spiritual care skills, in case a patient may need spiritual care, because patients cant only be helped or cured by medical care. I think some questions are: -"Why is god putting me through this?" - "what did I do wrong?" -"What does this mean?" -"What and Who can I trust?" Mostly questions that would make the patient feel or think that they did something to put them in the spot, because some patients normally feel that they've followed every rule of there religion so far but they've missed something that put them through something like this. In my opinion I think the chaplain tries to reach patients by talking to them and explaining why there in the spot or making sure they are not feeling alone. Most of them help the patient by making sure that they are getting properly looked after, by that I mean they are getting both spiritual care and medical care by their doctors. Serving patients may involve spending time with them, holding their hands, and talking about what is important to them. Patients value these things with their chaplain. I think Religion does belong in the healthcare system because when we need health care, we pray to god or we wonder what we did to be in the spot that god is putting us in so we need spiritual care to help us. I think doctors need spiritual care skills because most patients need spiritual care as I said, but most doctors cant use spiritual care, with there medical treatment. Such doctors help in this but I think in my opinion all doctors should know there spiritual care skills, because patients may go into depression or start getting mentally ill by thinking too much on why there in the certain spot or what rule they've missed in following that god is putting them in the spot. 9/12/2016 0 Comments Lesson 1: My World-view![]() Political In my Political World-view I think that not everyone apparently has the right to vote, but I think everyone should have a right to vote. Voting rights shouldn't come from your skin colour or your religion, you have a right to vote if your an adult. Every Adult in my opinion should get to vote. In most parts of the world people can't vote because of there religion or the colour of there skin, but would count as discrimination or racism. Voting is a big right, it a choice of who would lead your society. Everyone should have their own opinion counted in for voting because it can decide the future of a society, it could change the way you live or work just by one vote which would decide a leader. ![]() Economic In my Economic World-view I think in my opinion that you shouldn't just keep making as much money as you want I think you should make lots of money but it shouldn't effect the world, like the environment. For example I think that companies and factories should recycle old stuff that they don't need and reuse it, like a phone company should reuse things from an old phone to create a new one. I also know that in parts of the world people wouldn't get paid equally and fairly due to racism or dont pay the same amount of taxes. I think that people with higher incomes should be paying more taxes than people that earn less because if the government said "everyone must pay the same amount of taxes," the people who are earning less would argue. Most protests and some violence gets started due to things like this. Most people depend there lives on there jobs just to earn money and have enough for food a care or a house. Most people may not be able to get a job due to racism or discrimination. ![]() Socials In my Social World-view in my opinion I think that you should get to speak your own language. Everyone's religion should be treated respectfully. You shouldn't be forced to speak a different language if someone doesn't like your culture or religion. When it comes to health care I think it should depend on what the accident is on what the amount is that you're paying. If it is proven that you are responsible for the accident then you should be paying but if its been proven that you are not responsible for it then you shouldn't have to pay for something that you weren't responsible for. I believe that people have different views from each other and we can easily change them. This is how I view the world and it think that things need to be more equal and fair so everyone has there own right to vote, everyone is paying there taxes depending on there income and your health care payment isn't raised without reason, when you have no fault in the accident. |
