12/5/2016 0 Comments The ChurchIf peasants learn to read they would be pretty upset or mad, because one thing that aparted or made a difference between peasants and the church is education. They would read the bible and understand that what they were told was not true and them not knowing how to read was used as an advantage for the church. A social ramification would be that now peasants wouldn't be seperate from everyone else, because they would be able to read like everyone else. A political ramification would be that peasants would take stand that they are not being treated right. They would say that they work hard and they should get better. And last an economical ramification is that they would be able to get better jobs now which means they would start earning more money too. This would effect the church because the church wouldn't be able to take advantage of the peasants as in wouldn't be able to make money through them. The peasants would know that working for the church doesnt pay for their sins.

I see two black men raising their hands in the air as a sign of victory. This photo makes me feel a bit happy because as known black people were slaves and in this photo there are two black men standing in victory which would make other black people feel more worthy around the world. I think a social time with this photo could be that the more that black people win things like this then black people will feel more worthy around the society. An economical time with this photo would be that the more worthy black people because the more people would start interacting with them because after slavery black people couldn't sell as much merchandise but this could turn things around. A political thing could be that if black people become more famous they would get more attention and maybe their will be more black people in politics. I think this photo is art because it could tell a story behind it and in my opinion writing is an art. Most photographs are art because of the story told behind it. Photo In this photo I see a police officer getting arrested and in the caption beside it says that the police officer was a retired captain. This photo made me not feel something but think. It says he was arrested in a protest, but it doesn't have the reason. It made me think about why he was arrested in a protest. This could make a big social difference because people might start feeling unsafe in their society because they might wonder why a retired captain from the police department was arrested. This would make an economical difference because people may start more riots of protests against having police officer that get arrested in their own society. I think this would be a big political difference because if a police officer gets arrested people would question politicians and the person in charge of this society why they have such people getting arrested. They may question this due to their safety. Once again I think this picture is art because it have a story behind it and a story would count as art in my opinion. Photo This photo made me feel bad and thankful. Seeing the child on the ground made em feel really bad because I wondered why most of the rich wont give to the poor. This little kid is starving while most people are sitting at their homes eating their big huge thanksgiving dinner or whatever while children like this are starving without food water or most of them without shelter. I felt thankful because I have food water and shelter but at the same time it made me think why most of the rich wouldn't give to the poor. This would make a social difference because people like this may feel bad too and the worst they feel they will get a bad mindset on all the rich, just because of some people that aren't as "giving" as others. This came in as economical because it made me think in a different way. There are more black people starving around the world than white people. It came in with racism. This kid may be starving because they may not have much money. They may not have much money because the child's parent might not have a good job. They might not have a good job because they are black and most people around the world are racist. This made me think from a political view because some politicians may be taking advantage. Most politicians would bribe or use this hunger in a way to get more money. This was a piece of art to me because it had a really big story behind it and stories are art. Photo This photo actually made me feel like their was a difference in the world now. This was because gay marriage became legal after lots of protests and riots and lots and lots of arguments. This would make a big social difference because people that would be gay would feel more worthy that their opinions are being heard. This would make a economical difference because maybe others would stop judging people for being gay, which would get more jobs and lots of other things for gay people. This is a political difference because finally gay marriage became legal, after like I said lots of protest and arguments and riots. 11/21/2016 0 Comments The Renaissance: The Age of ReasonThese ideas are good because they can help define a person or thing. I do not agree with the statement "Not what man knows but what man feels, concerns art." because all artists think in a different way and some may be inspired by science. For example their could be paintings on how science is made or on an experiment. Most people say that art is only your emotions and passion, it is but it could also be a way of showing science or it could be inspired by science.
Something becomes art when its made in someone's own way as in with their own thinking and their passion and creativity. We are told if the piece of art is good or not but I think that a person should decide on their own if they think its good because everyone has a different mindset. What I mean in we are told if the art piece is good is that sometimes if someone higher class than you buys the painting you may think that's its good, or if a paintings put up in a museum or if a poem is read aloud you may just say its good because why else would someone preform or recite the art or put up a painting? 11/18/2016 0 Comments The Trans-Atlantic Slave TradeSome things that made the trans Atlantic slave trade different are the fact that slaves were not traded over winning battles but they were important things that people would buy like at a supermarket or a store. I could call a slave an "item" in this case. In this video slaves were only black which I could say was discrimination.
Harriett Tubman created a fear in between the slave owners, because she would go missing with slave in the middle of the nights and slave owners wouldn't be able to find them. This inspired lots of slaves to help her through and be brave as she was and help them through. Harriet Tubman created a very big important effect. The man in the video we watched said that god had chosen him to abolish slavery, so I could say religion was something that helped him rise. I think that both may be a good voice, because if a free slave raises a voice it would make an impact on other slaves which would make them stronger and make them escape and help others. An example of that would be Harriet Tubman. I think a white man would be a good supporter as well because he could make a difference between other white men too. Some slaves might eve lose a fear and be more brave if some white men start helping them. The failure of Reconstruction was when black slaves were free. Some political reasons were that white people didn't really want a black leader so they would elect a white leader and black people may have elected a black person because they may have more trust and faith in them. I think one reason why white people may not have elected a black person is that they may have a bit of fear that black people might begin to take lead and do what white people had done to black people in the past. A social reason was that black people hadn't really made a place for them so didn't feel really worthy, and they would only interact among themselves. An economic convention could be that white people didn't really want to buy anything from the black people so they wouldn't make as much money as white people. Something I could compare between feudalism and the trans- Atlantic slave trade is that everyone stood in a different place. The church and nobles and king would stand higher than the peasants and knights, and in the case of slavery the white people would stand higher than the black people. The difference was that if you were born as a king you would stay but if you were born a slave you could be freed and change your standing. 11/17/2016 0 Comments The Campaign to Abolish Slavery![]() After seeing this first photo I feel a lot of different ways related to what we have now and how we're treated compared to how they were treated. This photo is a ship with slaves stacked on each other. On the ship from what we learnt in class, they were fed once a day. Compare that to how much we eat everyday. If they got sick they were most likely to be thrown off the ship and they would have a bare chance to survive. I think the purpose of this image is to show how the slaves were transported from place to place, and how they were put in the ships. In this photo there are lots of slaves and it makes em think of how many lives were probably ruined. I think this photo is accurately portrayed because the slaves weren't transported from place to place in a luxurious or a very comfortable way but they were stacked on each other like show in the photo and only fed once a day. In this photo I think the point of view of the artist is to show us how they were placed in the ship and how many slaves there were. There could also be a reason in splitting all the slaves up as in, in the centre there were all boys and on the left side there were all women and the right side had all men. I think this photo was meant to make the public feel more thankful fro them selves and feel something for what slaves were treated like while being transported. ![]() This was a picture of a poster that would tell people about the slaves being sold. Knowing that there were 94 slaves in total was really sad. We watched a video in class which showed a clip of slaves being sold and the way the owners would pull them around it would make the slaves look like puppets and the owner would be controlling was really sad. Most slaves when they are being sold are taken away from their family's which would be hard because your being taken away from your own family and working for someone else. The worst part is that they are making flyers to sell slaves and their being sold like bananas at a store. For example most people check the quality of the bananas and that's what owners of slaves do. They would make sure the slave is strong and not weak. They would make sure their healthy so they wont die on them the next day. I think this pictures meaning was to explain to people how the slaves were sold. It tells How many people were sold. It says how many women, how many girls, how many boys, and how many men were to be sold. It also says the slaves were healthy, probably put on the flyer to get more attention to buyers that were looking to "purchase" slaves. I think this is an accurate portrayal because it tells us how they were sold and that there were flyers put up to I could say "advertise" them and give out new of them being sold. I think in this painting or picture the point of view of the artist was to show what sellers would out on the posters, and some things they would say to get more people to come. This image is probably made to make the public feel sorry for how slaves were given away and traded or however they were taken from place to place. ![]() This third photo made feel grateful for what I have. I family, a house, food, everything a person probably needs to be happy and being happy is important in life. In this case, slaves, probably didn't really know what being happy felt like. At the bottem it said "Am I not a Man or a Brother" and this didn't make sense to me at first but then I realized that this was probably a picture of a slave asking if they were worth of a important role or spot, and this was probably because they felt like they were worth nothing. I think this photo means that slaves felt that they weren't really worthy because for how owners treated them and they questioned there relation with other form how they are treated. In this photo I think the slaves are suppose to be portrayed in a spot that where they look like they are question the owners of why they are in their current spot. Their asking if they are also worthy of being a human or a family member or a friend. I think the artist was trying to show that slaves always questioned why they were in their spot. This image was meant to show public feel grateful for what they have as in having a family and being treated as family and so we the public understand that these guys were treated as puppets. This assignment made me realize alot of things. Slaves were obviously not happy with what they were treated like and they questioned why it was like that too. Being beaten, stacked on each other to transport place to place, fed almost once a day, yelled at, pulled around, given orders, they probably didn't really know what being happy was like. I feel grateful for what I have because slaves didn't have a life anything as close to how most people have now. 11/7/2016 0 Comments Imperialism and Colonization![]() What I see in this image is a man who could be Christopher Columbus, because Columbus Day is based on Christopher Columbus. Behind the man is the American flag which is an important thing to Americans, so I could say this is an important image. ![]() What I see in this image is a vessel and a few men pulling a row boat onto shore. On the shore is another man with his sword raised up, and I guess he owns the vessel because in look wises I could say he would be wealthier to own the vessel. His sword is raised up as he owns the land or if he has earned something or got something big or important to him. ![]() This image looks like a cartoon to me but it could mean alot of different thing. As it seems the man might be telling the other man something, and I could tell because at the bottom of the image is says "we are here to make you democracy" in quotations. The two men could be a European and a Native. This image in a way would look like its mocking something or it could be a joke as the way its created. ![]() The final picture is someone's head that's has a tag named England. In my thoughts this photo could mean England would be grabbing other countries to maybe take over. All the countries that are also tagged Egypt, Canada, India, Jamaica and other countries, are colonized by Great Britain. I see two different pictures in a positive light which are the first picture and the second. In the first picture Christopher Columbus has the american flag behind him which is shown as an important historical figure. The second picture I see in a positive way is because of how he has his sword raised up as in he has earned or gotten something important. I would say he has gotten the land because that's where he is standing, and he looks very proud for standing on that land.
I see the last two photos showing colonization in a negative way because of how the pictures are shown. The third image is a European man telling or I would say lying to a native telling them they are making them a democracy, but they just took over their land and property. The fourth photo is a man tagged England and I would say he looks sort of greedy because even though he as so much as in so many parts of land already grabbed he's still going for as much as he can take. I think the last two photos again represent an indigenous world-view because, the third photo the natives land was taken away, as in all their spiritual meanings, and Columbus yet took it away after knowing that's where they live and the land would be very important to them, in this case Columbus looked very bad in a view from the natives who were lied to. The fourth photo is also something that represents an indigenous world-view because once again all the land was getting taken over by the head in the middle tagged England and the land could be very important to people living there. I think the first two photos represent a western world-view because the people living in United States still respect Columbus day because Christopher Columbus was the founder of their land. He is very important to American history, but it could be he is a great man to Americans because he found their land for them but he could be a disgrace to those forced out of the country, the Indigenous people that lived there years before. |
